At least we meet, ROCK PILE. I was hoping upon hope that this cache wouldn't cause nearly as much confusion as the ROCK HILL confusion of 2007, where I had thought that some bizarre error in GSAK had mixed up the logs of that cache with this one (which I had mistakenly thought was ALSO called ROCK HILL at the time). Thankfully, there wasn't nearly as much confusion involved, but it still gave me a run for my money ToungeOut.

Having biked over here directly from the nearby "Secret Bin" cache (after which I found a convenient and flat vehicle-path that I could have taken to save a lot of energy ToungeOut), I worked my way over the somewhat rough (for a bike with tired legs, anyway) terrain towards the coordinates. Passing by the seemingly endless pile of structures... which if I'm not mistaken, had something to do with training for someone or another... I slowly ended up near the coordinates. At about 30 meters away, I started into the trees, and put my bike down, preparing to walk the rest of the way. Being of the paranoid sort, I was hoping it'd be a quick find, since I don't like leaving my bike unattended for any period of time... even it's dead-silent around, and I'm likely the only person within a half-kilometer of that spot ToungeOut.

However, when at last I reached the coordinates, the name of the cache suddenly sprung to mind as being relevant to the location, and I realized that this cache might not be so easy to find as I had first hoped. After about 5 quick minutes of fruitlessly searching the crevices and looking under rocks, I decided that my paranoia wasn't going to let me do a more thorough search unless I did something to appease it. Trekking back towards my bike, I discovered a significantly short and easier path through the trees to the training-area. Snagging my bike, I walked it back over the the coordinates and set about a more thorough search. For a good 15 minutes, I trudged all over the entire pile, sticking my hands into anything they'd fit into, and peering into the openings of anything that they wouldn't (or that I didn't want to jam them into).

Definitely a lot of places the cache could be in a place like this. It's earned it's 2.5 difficulty rating, to say the least ToungeOut. And this was right after I had decided to attempt to beat my old single-day record of finding caches, too ToungeOut. However, persistence finally paid off, and my eyes caught a glimpse of something distinctly non-rock based. Checking a bit closer, I was pleased to learn that I was correct BigSmile.

The cache in hand, I poked around inside, and found some swag that was quite to my liking. given one of the 'foamy' covers for my old headphones went missing, I swapped out a utility buckle for the headphones inside of the cache, and followed it up with a chainmail ball. One signing of the logbook later, and the cache was back in it's hidey-hole, waiting for the next cacher to attempt it.

Thanks for giving me a nice challenge, and for 'closing the loop' of the old Rock Hill mystery of days gone by. Not that it had anything to do with that in actuality, but you know what I mean ToungeOut.

Took: Headphones
Left: Logbook entry, utility buckle, and chainmail ball
