Found it 10/18/2008 by Kabuthunk
Found this cache relatively quickly... that is, after I was able to find my way to the area. Once again, my sense of direction was pretty bad today ToungeOut. My wife and I came here pretty much straight after finding the nearby 'Oh Grate' cache. Given I had found that elusive fella, I felt fairly confident in my ability to locate this one.

We parked on the street a little bit away, since I thought it was... well... in a different direction ToungeOut. After I got out of the car, I walked South across the street, realized I was going in the wrong direction, walked diagonally BACK across the street towards Dakota, realized I was going too far West, and finally zig-zagged my way back down the actual correct path I was supposed to go all along. Strangely (and quite thankfully I have an eery sense of luck in this sense... although having now mentioned it, I've probably jinxed it for all time henceforth), it was surprisingly quiet and pedestrianless in the area. During my zig-zagging, there was one woman who was walking down the sidewalk, and someone was doing something in their yard near there, but that's about it. Once I neared the coordinates, nary a person was to be seen, or a sound to be heard.

So walking towards the coordinates, I quickly zeroed in on there the cache would most likely be hiding. It took me a few tries to locate it, as my first assumptions all turned out to be wrong. Turns out I simply wasn't looking at it as straightforward as I should have been. Several seconds after reflecting on the cache location as a whole, I spotted the cache container. Not even entirely sure how I missed that to begin with ToungeOut. Personally, I'd kick the difficulty of this cache down from 3 stars to 1... maybe 1.5 dead tops. Unless of course the cache wasn't quite hidden exactly where it was supposed to be, but where I spotted it, there's no way it was a 3-star.

So having found the cache, I was momentarily a bit nervous about obtaining it. It's abnormally safe to assume that there's no worries when reaching for the cache container, given the 'open' nature of the location in general, but I'm a paranoid creature. A little bit of manual dexterity, and I was able to play the game "Operation" on the cache container ToungeOut. Ahh, the relatively empty logbook of a fairly new cache... time to add my name to the list. One micromail ball later, and I closed it up and replaced it as found. Again, if it's meant to be hidden a bit different, I couldn't tell. There doesn't appear to be any specific "place" that it would seem to fit to be more hidden. Perhaps some natural camouflage was once there as well?

Looking around, I was still alone and bystanderless. And actually, given I had to log this cache a day late due to time constraints, the fact that several people have already found it after me is a good indication that I wasn't spotted in the slightest. YAY INCONSPICUITY!

And thus takes care of all of the caches (for now, anyway) in the St. Vital region. Well, there's at least one more by this cache owner in St. Vital park... which will likely fall prey to my pen sometime in the coming week Smile.

Took: Nothing
Left: Logbook entry and micromail ball
