Would you drink your own bathwater? A ponderance on cleanliness I've heard it before. You don't like bathing because it's dirty. You're sitting in a pool of your own filth, stewing and soaking in it. Something along those lines. Do you believe in homeopathy? It's the concept whereby when you dilute something enough, it becomes more powerful as a medical agent. It's been disproven long ago. So how's bathwater fit into this? Let's do a quick hypothetical. Say you desire sitting in a pool of warm water. It's cold out, you've got some candles lit, and you're ready for a soaking. You pour a hot bath and lay in the tub for about five minutes. Not really moving much, get your hair wet, generally coat yourself in water and settle in. You get thirsty. Either you forgot to bring a drink, or you've decided you no longer want the one you have. A gulp or two of water might be nice, throat's a little scratchy. Do you go for the faucet, or just turn over and drink directly from the tub? I imagine that some people would go immediately for the faucet, or even get out of the water an obtain a cup so they could put fresh, cold water in it, maybe with ice or a slice of lemon. To them I ask 'Why are you turning down the oasis of water *literally* floating around you?' I mean, I get your point of view. Cold water, slice of lemon, all very awesome. In the meantime, you disrupted your relaxing bath, cooled yourself off, pre-moistened your towel for later (or are you really gonna grab another one?), and let your bathwater cool down. Is that water dirty? Like, the bathwater? I've been laying in it for 5 minutes now. Haven't even moved all that much. Haven't scrubbed my skin, haven't used the soap yet, haven't even scraped between my toes. What's wrong with that water? It's virtually identical to that stuff in the cup. I'm turning my head and drinking that bathwater. I dunno, it almost seems like going to incredible lengths to avoid drinking the water that you've been stewing in is disrespectful to the water, and maybe to yourself. I don't know how unclean other people are, but I'm not THAT plastered in filth. I'm not going to turn down the gallons of water around me, dirtied only by my own body and nothing else. Drink that bathwater, it's better for the environment. Less wasteful and all that. I'm having a bath to begin with, if I'm gonna go to that length, I'm going to get the most out of it that I can. The only real downside I can see is that it's not cold (unless you like cold baths, at which point a hot beverage may be preferred). I don't mind warm water. And then there's finding the crossing point between drinkable and undrinkable. For myself it's usually when soap gets involved. If it's 99.999% as-pure-as-your-municipality-gives-it-to-you, why not?
