The concrete canyon will probably play havoc with your GPS signals. Using the hints and Yahoo map, this cache could be found without a GPS. Please retrieve and replace discretely. Let's see how long a run it can have... (The cache started out with a variety of Manitoba pins and a mini FTF certificate.) |

Nothing like starting your geocaching day with a brand new (or close enough thereto) cache . We started out initially hoping to visit United Army Surplus and see what's left in there... but didn't realize it was now closed Sunday/Monday. But hey... that equals more time for geocaching .
So we parked somewhat nearby, boggled for a minute or two over the 'Tardis' cache a bit south of this one, gave up on that for the moment, and came over to this one. I've been quite curious about this cache since it was created, since the name kinda stuck in my mind (as mentioned in the description, likely due to it's similarity to the 'Hardest Cache in Wpg'). To say the least, it didn't take long for me to discover the meaning of the name .
Well... in actuality, it would have taken me a bit longer... since the various concrete signal-killers all around me were throwing off the GPS, and I the coords were trying to point me about 20 meters North of the cache.
Luckly enough though, I was with my friend Night-Red, who... while talking to his Grandma on the cellphone mind you... took a SINGLE look at what ended up being the correct place, and waved me forwards.
Pfft... showoff .
In either case... he probably saved me about 20 minutes, since I'm sure I would have been poking around 20 or so meters North until the GPS eventually got around to shoving me back towards the cache.
In my defense however, I DID initially start to... shall we say 'use the correct style of searching', in the right general area... but was abandoning that method to go closer to where the GPS told me the cache was. In retrospect... had I read the cache description, I might have been saved from even doing that .
Thankfully, it was quite quiet there, and noone even walked by, let alone sat down or otherwise slowed down the searching (not that Night-Red needed much time anyway *shakes fist*).
Added bonus... I never knew about this little sitting area before this. Nice spot .
Took: Nothing
