This is our first hide and should be a quick find.
There is no FTF certificate, but you will find several exchangeables, a log book and pencil. There is also an Olympic micropuck coin to be discovered and moved on.

Got a bit lazy and there’s a bit of a delay in logging this. Well, better late than never, and due to the amusement in going after this cache, I remember all of it quite well regardless. Since all of my Thanksgiving gatherings took place either Saturday or Sunday, I was free to do whatever today on the extra day off. I took the opportunity to hang out at a friend’s place about a block away from here on Fulton. I took my GPS with me in hopes of going after a geocache somewhere either before or after chilling at his place (he’s not a geocacher despite my attempts to change his mind), but due to various other things, I didn’t get an opportunity to head out beforehand.
So we ended up playing video games and whatnot until about 9:00pm or so, long after the sun went down and it was dark out. I figured there’s a chance that finding this cache was pretty much written off... but y’never know until you try. Thus, at about 9:30 or so, I headed out and parked on a nearby street since that’d be closer than walking from his driveway and back. With very little traffic, I was easily able to make my way to ground zero with absolutely nobody in sight.
Well, I somewhat assumed it was ground zero, anyway. My GPS didn’t have a signal yet at the time I walked over, but from what I had seen on the GPS prior to heading over, I had a vague assumption as to what general area the cache would be in. I began to look around as best I could without yet pulling out my flashlight or really having any light whatsoever except for ambient light coming from street lights. And from where I was standing, there was very little of that in general. However, from what little hint of light I had to work with, a few seconds after walking into the general area and starting to search where I figured the cache would be, I saw something that looked... not quite right. I was working with damn near pitch black so I couldn’t be sure, but one maglight later, and I definitely confirmed that it was the cache’s hiding spot that I had been staring at . I’m pretty sure this one can be chalked up to pure blind luck more than anything else.
So having somehow stumbled across the cache container in the dark, I used my flashlight to figure out how to open it and get at the logbook. There was all of three times through all of this that a car came driving by, so each time I turned off the flashlight and kept maneuvering around so that I would always have a tree between myself and the vehicle. I figured there’d be no problems one way or the other, but in general it’s probably best if my presence isn’t noticed at all, it being dark out, and that in itself making me suspicious to be hanging around a park.
So the logbook signed and a chainmail ball dropped inside, I replaced the cache as I had found it. I think I found a position in which it’s fairly well secured, so with any luck it won’t move with any amount of wind hitting it.
Thanks for getting a cache out in the area though. This are has always seemed kinda devoid of caches. Or maybe I’ve just found them all in the past years and no new ones have come up for a while. In either case, it was nice to have something to go after near my friend’s place. Especially so since it’s been almost a month since my last cache outing (been a busy month), so I was glad to be able to plug that hole at least somewhat today.
Although I do have to say that I'm still rather perplexed about the name of the cache. When I saw it on my GPS, I kinda hoped the description would mention something, but looks like I'm left to ponder this one.
Took: Nothing
Left: Logbook entry and chainmail ball
