Lockn’Lock Micro round container that holds log sheets, no pencil – bring your own. Contains a Morris thermometer keychain and a coin. "First To Find" can take 1 of the 2 items for finding. This cache was first created in spring, modified and enhanced in August, and ready to go in October. Due to Queen's unexpected hospitalization it was only put in place now. Hope you enjoy it as we have. The area used to be a farm near the river...You can find remnants of the past all around. |

Ok, I've gotta say... that is an AWESOME idea for a cache hide. Kinda surprised the weather hasn't... moved it from it's position, but it appeared to be holding up well. Took me like... 10 minutes to find this fella too.
Started out parking nearby and wandering in. Oy, how many holes can there be inside a tree and it still be alive?!? Anyhoo, I spent most of that time poking around various holes in various trees, and finding nothing but leaves and dirt. HOWEVER, on the GROUND, I did manage to find (initially 4/5ths buried under the dirt) a conch shell about 7 inches long ! I mean... I've been to beaches and whatnot, and I don't think I've EVER seen a conch shell in Winnipeg. So THAT was quite the interesting find. At this point, I had at least resolved that if I didn't find the cache, hey... at least I had a conch shell. I'll snap a pic after I clean the dirt off of it and upload it to here.
Oh yeah... about 2 minutes after that, I happened to see the cache. Real cool hiding spot idea!
Took: Conch shell from mostly buried underground about 5 feet from cache
Left: Logbook entry and chainmail ball
