The FROGTASTICALLY GREEN cache is located in the stunningly scenic St. Vital Park. This park has many walking trails, sport activity areas, a boat launch, barbecue pits, and picnic tables. The large duck pond is home to many species of waterfowl (and possibly a frog or two?). In winter the park is like a winter wonderland. The duck pond turns into a skaters delight, as children of all ages make their way around the figure eight designed rink to the sound of beautiful music. Another area abound with winter activity are the toboggan slides at the east end of the park. Like Geocaches, many frogs rely on the art of camouflage to avoid getting spotted. While some frogs change color to match their environment, others blend with their background. This cache is camouflaged. The theme for this cache is FROGS or GREEN. I hope you do not have Ranidaphobia if you find this cache! JOKE: What do you say to a hitch-hiking frog? See hint for answer. |

Ummm... this cache seems to have undergone a bit of a tragedy. I was out at St. Vital park with some friends, and one of them has for the longest time been wanting to try geocaching and getting into the hobby. Since this was the only opportunity they really had to do anything, I brought my GPS along with the intent of finding several caches I had found in the past.
So... we had her follow the GPS right up to the coordinates... where we found the hiding spot (where I had found it, anyway)... kinda... broken off and fallen down. Looking around a bit, we couldn't find the slightest trace of the cache container, or any of it's contents strewn either inside what was left of the spot that it used to be hidden in, or under the debris lying on the ground.
Methinks this one might need a bit of TLC and possibly to be moved slightly. With half of the camoflage lying on the ground, the place the cache was is extraordinarily more visible now, so I'm guessing the cache may have "walked away", so to speak .
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news... but methinks this cache may need to be checked over.

[On the day off, decided to bike down to the park and see if I can't find the caches hiding therein. As per usual (until such time I buy one), I'm GPS-less, and was pretty much going on memory. Was pretty much going off of] straight to the west of the island in that duck pond. [Y'know, I kinda liked that little area in general. Had to hunt around a bit, but eventually prevailed. Signed the logbook, but left the travelbug there for now, as I'm new to geocaching. Need to look into travelbugs more... whether I need to be a premium member, how soon it needs to be back into another cache, etc, etc. Basically, due to my lack of GPS, I decided to leave it as I had no clue how soon it would be before I found another cache big enough to hold it. Signed the logbook though.
