Located near the eastern shores of Lake Winnipeg in a swampy area
with high vegetation canopy. Just off a path. |
This camoed container is placed near what my inlaws refer to as
'Rocky Beach'. A FTF card and Travel Bug awaits along with other
outdoor sort of stuff. A great place to splash about in the summer
months (bring a towel on a hot day), not quite as nice when the
snow is blowing. I have given this a high difficulty rating due to
the tree cover. During summer, you may have a wide area to search.
I was only able to get a 7m error reading today on two seperate
visit with 2 different GPSrs. Probably Poison Ivy around during
growing season.

Our second and final cache tackling of the day. Due to a birthday party being held at a cabin in the area, I had the opportunity to do some quick geocaching in a location I may never have the chance to visit again. And a forest cache at that, WOOH! .
Had my friend Night-Red with me for the walk (which was about 1.5km from the other cache in this area), and had a few interesting moments when we had to cross a ditch/stream thing, and a muddy road... but otherwise, it was aaaaall good forest caching . Luckly, the satellite gods were kind to us today, and the coordinates led us bang on to the cache itself. A fairly quick find, despite the massive mosquito population . Luckly as well, for some reason mosquitoes don't find me TOO tasty, and actually tend to leave me alone for the most part. Don't even think I got a single bite despite slowly trudging through a heavily mosquito-filled swamp-like area for 10 or so minutes .
And as an added bonus, I got to do some foot-twiggling inside of Lake Winnipeg shortly after finding the cache . I've attached the pics so you can see what I got to experience first-hand. Despite the clouds, the few openings that were letting light through made for a very beautiful scene . The drizzle even stopped for the entire time that we were wandering around the rocky beach. It truly made my day to be standing out there and just staring into the horizon over the water . Thanks a million for the cache!!! Given the birthday party was filled entirely with city-only types, it's EXTREMELY doubtful that I would have gotten to see Lake Winnipeg itself if not for this cache. In fact, none of the others even set foot out of the cabin door the entire time .
So thank you again, as without this cache... that experience would have never occured .
