The releasing of the Pokémon

You guys have been trapped long enough

This was something that I had to do, at some point. My original Pokémon game, with original Kabutroid and Florin and Quake, all those guys. They've been trapped for years, I couldn't allow it.

And so, on one fateful day, on August 10th, 2019, I set about releasing all of my Pokémon. I had captured, in the boxes, one of every single pokémon in the game, including one of each stage of evolution. For the starters, way back when, my brother had a gameboy as well, and we traded back and forth a bit to get all of the starters. I think I used eggs to get the middle evolutions for those, and the rest is more or less find and catch. Some levelling lol.

But so, we have to the right, all of our Pokémon in Pokémon Blue being released once again into the wild. Go free little ones, the world is your oyster! May your bits and bytes be forever known as wild, and not disappear while being locked in some box.

And that was the thing that prompted me to do all of this, the realization that, well, the battery in my original Gameboy cart is going to fail eventually, and when it does the cart will simply be... empty. So before that could happen, a full 22 years after I had gotten the game, the Pokémon were released into the wild, and allowed to be free again.

Now, I didn't photograph it, but I went through and released all of the Pokémon on all of my Pokémon games. I didn't want to see them stuck in a box forever, or alternatively transfered to the Pokémon Bank (which at the time would have been financially unavailable to set up, getting all the necessary handhelds to transfer Pokemon forward that much... if gen1 could even transfer that far, I'm not even sure, but regardless). No, me actually being the pacifistic, kind, friendly person that I am, didn't want them stuck there, especially if I'm not playing regularly any more. No, these ones had to go free. And yes, I did release the Mesprit and the Cresselia from the comic, those guys are back in the wild too. Go free little guys!

My original Kabutops... the origin of the Kabu of Kabutroid (the game came out before Zebeth, thus the name)... go free little spiky one. Before your save data vanishes from a little blue cartridge, go free and be wild.

The releasing of the Pokémon ^_^

Showing the Pokemon in Kabutroid's party, the Kabutops Kabutroid, the Rhydon Quake, the Exeggutor Bullrush, Killbot the Porygon, Stampede the Tauros, and Insanity the Tentacruel. Kabutroid's stats, and original trainer number 05814 Their moves, slash, swords dance, double team, and blizzard.
The Rhydon Quake's stats, 380 health. Rock ground type, aw yeah. Gotta love rock type. Quake's moves, dig, earthquake. Level 100, all of these ones are level 100. Bullrush, my grass psychic type. 270 attack, 242 defense. 337 special! Original trainer is Chaz, my brother. Yah, I keep it in memory here though, and the battery would one day expire. The images live on.
Bullrush's moves, psychic of course, hypnosis, mega drain, and solarbeam. 16 psychic, a lot of pp up went into that move. The Porygon killbot. Actually has mediocre attack stats, but he looks cool and polygonal, I like it. Killbot's moves, psybeam, recover, conversion, and ice beam.
Stampede the Tauros. 288 attack, 298 speed. 335 health, he's a solid guy. Their moves, stomp of course, mimic is in there. Fissure, and hyper beam. Our Tentacruel, I wanted a poison type in there. Original trainer is Thunk, this was traded in from a different game.
Their moves, acid, barrier, screech, and hydro pump. Gotta love that screech, drop the opponents defense by two. Yah level 100, and I think a few more in the boxes were too actually. Talking to Professor Oak. How is your Pokedex coming along? Your pokedex comletion is...
150 pokemon seen, 150 pokemon caught. Also as a side note my friend gave me a card that technically has Mew on it, so though it's not in the game, I do have a card with it. I guess that one gets to stay with me actually happyface Your pokedex is entirely complete! Congratulations!
We are now on the Pokemon withdraw, deposit, or release screen. It is selected to release Pokemon. Kabutroid selected. Once released, Kabutroid is gone forever (though the images remain, again WOOOH, images last longer than batteries!)
Kabutroid was released outside. Bye Kabutroid! We are now highlighted on box 1. We see a bulbasaur named Florin being released. Inside the box there is every pokemon, evolutions included. Bulbasaur, ivysaur, venusaur, charmeleon...
We are up to releasing the Venusaur. Goodbye Venusaur! The first four boxes now show as empty, and we are selecting box 5.
Polywhirl is being released. The first seven boxes are empty. Seadra is being released.
Scyther is being released. All of the boxes are empty. There is one new pidgey as the only Pokemon.
Showing the stats of Thunk, money 32184, all badges. Time, 71 hours, 35 minutes.
