Paved path to this one. It is one of the highest falls in Canada. You might want to bring a jacket and umbrella to this cache in the summer. The breeze off of the falls is chilly and you will get wet. If the sun is shining there is a awesome rainbow in the mist. One of the most beautiful falls I've been to. This is a waterfall worth going to see and to get close enough to see the rainbow. Post a picture of the falls and you or your GPS when you log in and email me what the name of the falls is and what it means in what language. Please no answers on the log-in page or I will need to delete it. The answer will be found on a sign on the trail at N51 24.986 - W116 14.441

Man, but this was an awesome virtual to have gone after. Props to my brother PurpleMonkeyDishwasher for having taken us out here. We were hanging out at my bro's place in Calgary for a week of vacation, and they surprised us by taking us to Banff for a few days . I mean, my wife and I had a plan to make a day-trip to Banff to begin with, but odds are pretty good that we would have had no clue that this waterfall existed.

So after spending our first day of Banff at the Fox Hotel soaking up some hot tub (and as well finding a cache there), our second day was planned to be spent driving around in the mountains taking in a pile of excellent views and good times. These falls were the first on our list of things to visit. A few things struck me about it even before the falls were visible though...

The road going up to these falls are vicious! I'm pretty sure that our car, used to the flatlands of Manitoba, would have keeled over and died if we tried to take those inclines! My brother's car managed to get us up the switchbacks and zigzagging roads, until we eventually found ourselves at the parking lot. After a quick parking (which was surprisingly full, for it being on a Monday), we headed out towards the falls. Naturally of course, I had to twiggle my toes in the water near the parking lot. That... was quite cold. However, it was only a taste of what was to come . After walking past a number of tourists, we found ourselves at the base of the falls (see picture 1). Was that good enough for us? I think NOT! Thus, my brother and I decided to kick it up a few notches.

We wanted to "touch the waterfall", so to speak. Not so much directly obviously. For one, it's essentially a rainy mist, and for two, it'd probably kill us if we tried to stand under it . However, we decided to climb waaaaay up the incline, and walk across a flat area so that we were right next to the falls. The wind was oh-so-nice enough to blow a few gusts of the falls directly towards us, drenching us head to toe. It was AWESOME (see pic 2).

It was also quite a surreal feeling being there... the falls so vastly large, the rest of the visitors being far below us, and us being that close, in the middle of the two (see pic 3). Definitely the absolute high-point of my vacation thus far .

So I thank you for getting a virtual cache for this location. It was phenomenal .

PS: As an added bonus, we got a lot of interesting looks on the way back to the car. Tourists wearing jackets, and heavily bundled up were just gaping at us, as we were heading to the car soaking wet, bareback, and just to mess with them we talking about "going for another swim" .
