In my early days, I attended Crane School nearby, and had to travel down this path, which my mother called the School Path. Sometimes, evil Grade 5 boys would be sitting up in the trees heckling the Grade 1 girls as they ran down the path with fear in their eyes. Ahh - memories. Quoting Kabuthunk in his log for InSeine Cache "don't get me wrong - I love forest caches." This was the best I could do James. Enjoy this easy 2-part cache. The cache was muggled twice so now it is a traditional cache. The cache is located just off the trail and might be winter friendly until the snow is very deep. It is difficult to get a good reading due to dense foliage. Just look for the obvious. Please close container snugly and hide upside down so that water runs out. You will have to bring your own pencil as I completely forgot to include one. Back in the summer of 2006 Along came a cacher who hailed from the sticks Kabuthunk's the name that he signs on his logs But he also signs James or just Kabs on his blogs. Kabs has been blessed with the gift of fine writing. He regales us with tales after every cache sighting. His highs and his lows are recorded at length. But writing is not this man's singular strength. Planet Zebeth receives time and attention, But other fine talents are worthy of mention. Who else can create, with elaborate ease Balls of chain-mail as lovely as these Some have their poker chips, some have wild hair... Some have their Ninja stamps; some just don't care… But only Kabuthunk can leave an impression As that made by chain-mail at every cache session. My challenge to all as you find this new cache... Is to write up a log that has wit and panache BBrown – this includes you, so get fingers typing I don't want to hear any whining and griping I hope you will all take this prose in good fun. We are blessed with a community second to none! So here's to a cacher I've come to admire... If I ever need chain-mail, I'll know who to hire! Best place to park would be on Crowson Bay, and then mark your car. Follow the path until your GPSr guides you into the big, dark forest Oh yeah.... one more thing... if you don't find this the first time around, I hope you have a successful DINIFRA in the future! I can honestly say that this cache got me moving from my comfy (well, not really... but that's besides the point ) computer chair the fastest of all caches.

So there I was, sitting in the #mbga irc chatroom, when suddenly I was asked by MHz if I had found the "Ode to Kabs" cache yet.

My first reaction was along the lines of 'Holy crap, it's out?!?', followed about 20 seconds later by discovering that it was under 2km away from me (1.9 from home coords!), which in turn was followed followed about 10 seconds later by 'TO THE BIKEMOBILE!' And luckly, my friend Night-Red was up for a bike-ride as well, so he got to experience the awesomeness of the cache with me .

Well... I did spend some time to read the awesome poem that was the cache description, too. Very creative... I likes, I likes . And also getting a 'dinifra' reference in there too? I'm surprised anyone even noticed when I started using that. Good eye .

And then... off we set! And almost before doing something ridiculously stupid, too . Just before I was about to leave, I realized... I didn't have the coordinates with me! The last time I got a pocket query from geocaching.com had been about 5 days ago, so I didn't have this particular one yet. After cramming the coordinates in, off we went! A quick bike-ride later, and I found myself at a dense little forest patch where I thought there was only houses. Thanks for introducing me to this little place. It definitely counts as a forest cache to me . It was surprisingly dense, given it was crammed into that area.

It took us a good several minutes to find the first stage though. Having completely forgotten the cache description, I was mainly concentrating on maybe a brass plate or something attached to something somewhere. After said few minutes, stage 1 was found. Had I had the hint on me, it may have sped things up, but it turned out to be unnecessary. Night-Red actually spotted it first, as he happened to expand searching towards that way first. He was nice enough though to step away and let me find it on my own as well though .

Snagging the coords, we biked off to the final stage! Only took a fraction of the time (aka: a few seconds) to locate stage 2 though. Nice hiding spot and container! I'm surprised something that big got into that spot . Saw that there was a geocoin in there... and given the cache name and mine, I almost felt obligated to move it along, so it came back with me. However... you can rest assured that a chainmail ball was left in it's place .

Thanks again for the excellent forest-cache, as well as creating it in my name. I feel quite honoured, and from when you asked permission from me to make it, I didn't quite know what to expect. I'm very pleased that this was the end result . I also got my friend to take a pic of me enjoying the location as a whole .
