A few days late logging this cache online, but better late than never. As it seems to be with most caches I find South of the city, I was on my way to my parent's place in (or near, anyway) Landmark. At first I wrote off caching today, since it was raining pretty thoroughly in Winnipeg. However, as I started to get further South, it started getting nicer and sunnier. I could still see rain behind me, but out in the country here, it was a nice day. Albeit very windy and kinda cold... but still not bad with the sun.

Unfortunately, there's very little between the city and Landmark that I haven't found as of yet. This cache however was only a few kilometers out of my way. Given I haven't found a cache in a while (aka: a week), I decided to swing over towards this one and try my luck. This cache had always stuck out in my mind after it was first placed... mainly because I still have yet to figure out what the name of the cache means . Wikipedia indicates (uncited though) that Sood is a last name of Parmar Kashtrya origin with close ties to the Khatri community in Punjab... but somehow I think that might be unrelated to the cache .

But I digress. After a bit of driving around, I found my way to the coordinates. Parking on the side of the road, I began the hunt. And hunt I did for a good 20 minutes, finding nothing. I read the past logs, hint, and description on my palm pilot, and still it didn't help. Sadly, the technique that I was using from the get-go was what the hint suggested . I expanded my circle of search a little bit more, and eventually came across the cache! A bit of muscle was needed to access it, but at least it's hiding spot had really good grip .

It looks like this cache hasn't been found in a while actually. Glad to have been one to uncover it after several months of hibernation . I always enjoy finding a cache that's been findless for months, if not longer. Everything inside is still dry, and all is good otherwise. Closing up the cache, I replaced it and headed back to the car. Of course, I forget to put in a chainmail ball, so halfway back to the car, I doubled back, re-opened the cache, and finished my personal requirements for finding a cache .

Now, the task of getting home. I just swung East on the next road to the South, and quite enjoyed fishtailing my way down the fresh gravel at 100km an hour. Ahh, country-driving. Anyone who grew up in the city would have been crapping their pants with my gravel-driving skills (I know my wife has yelled at me a few times ), but I quite enjoyed it. And then I ran across... unpleasantness. What's this at the end of the road? A barrier?!? What kind of road planners decide to spontaneously END A ROAD after upgrading the main highway?!? Luckly, some farmer appears to have snapped off a chunk of the barrier, and the dirt seems to be somewhat thoroughly travelled to access the highway. I was a bit worried I might bottom-out the car, but I made it back onto the highway easily. A distinct lack of traffic also helped. I was tempted to take the big dip in the middle, since I just wanted to straight East towards Landmark... but since the slopes were steeper, I figured I'd just go to the "new" entrance to Landmark.

Seriously... if you know what road planner debacled that intersection, please beat them with a pipe-wrench for me .

But aside from that... a fun cache. Got to listen to the water rushing by while I was searching for the cache, and generally enjoy the sun and quiet of the country .
