Located in an interesting park, 5 min south of the city limits.
Should be available year round. |
I think this park is fairly underused during the winter so I've
decided to place a cache here. The cache is located close to a trial
which may be muddy depending on the time of year you go searching.
Cache container: A modified half gallon flask cooler. Containing:-
Survival Blanket Compass/whistle Twine Magnifier Metal figure Coins

Y'know, I was kinda debating whether or not to go after this cache, since when I was parking my car, it was 1.2km away. Figured I'd see how I felt after grabbing the caches closest to it. Turns out I was somewhere in the neighbourhood of 700m away, so figured I'd take a stab at it.
Made absolutely SURE that I was on the right side of the river before going after this one. You only have that happen once to you, where you walk for a distance only to realize that a cache is on the opposite side of a river from where you're standing.
In either case... trails were a little muddy, but I stuck with my "walk on the leaf-covered edge of the trail" method, and it wasn't so bad. There were some parts however where this wasn't possible. I ALMOST wish it was about 5 degrees colder, so that the mud would be frozen. But then again... it was so friggin' gorgeous out today, having it 5 degrees colder might have killed my spirit a little. All in all, an excellent hike. Would have been nice to bike down here (like several bikers that I saw in my travels), but again... I didn't even know that this park existed in the first place .
Took me a minute to figure out how to get the cache container out of it's spot, too. Tried pulling from one side... found that it was WAY too big to get through, and quickly found the correct route to take it. Man... ton of golf-balls in here. I was wondering why it was rattling so much when I picked it up.
Took: Nothing (not much of a golfer)
Left: Logbook entry and chainmail ball
